I went to see Billy Talent at the Portsmouth Pyramids last night, I think it’s been a couple of years since I last saw them and I’ve not been to many gigs recently so it was great to go! I first saw Billy Talent when they were touring supporting their first album, and this evening I worked out that including festival appearances I’ve now seen them at least seven times. I got a copy of their newest album, Dead Silence, shortly after it was released and I think its brilliant- certainly on par with their first two (with the exception of a few songs I wasn’t such a fan of their third offering), incredibly catchy and hard to put down!
I’ve just heard that Jamie Lenman of Reuben, one of my long-term favourite bands, was also at the gig. I didn’t see him this evening, but I wish I had- he’s a very talented guy and I’d have liked to have thanked him for his output (He’s not just a talented musician, he also does design, illustration and directs!) over the years- Reuben reamain one of the most played and enjoyed bands in my iTunes library. Ah well, maybe he’ll be at the Frank Tuerner Joiners gig this Christmas, if not I’ll have to continue enjoying the Jamie Lenman’s Reasons Not To Be An Idiot Cover from Christmas 2010! This reminded me of the fantastic gig Billy Talent and Reuben played together at the Southampton Guildhall a few years back, its one of those gigs that sticks in my memory. I really miss Reuben, and do hope to see them play together again one day.
Anyway, here’s a link to the photographs, some of my favourites are below:
